‘Avengers: Endgame’ Writers On Possible Captain Marvel & War Machine Romance

During an interview with ComicBook.com, Avengers: Endgame co-writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely commented on whether or not they intended to hint at a romance between Captain Marvel and War Machine.

After the heroes of Avengers: Endgame confront Thanos and discover he destroyed the Infinity Stones, preventing the team from using them to reverse the Mad Titan’s decimation, the film jumps ahead five years into the future. Fans later see Black Widow communicating with the team from different points in the universe via holograms and once everyone departs, Captain Marvel notably stays behind to wish War Machine “good luck,” leading some fans to believe the writers were hinting at a romance between the two heroes. While Christopher Markus did not confirm this, he did note that he is all for the movies bringing the Captain Marvel and War Machine romance from the page to screen:

“You mean when she says, ‘Good luck’ to him? I mean … You know, you can ship anything you want. We’re aware of the comic book relationship, and should things develop in the future of the MCU, I’m all for it.”

Would you like to see an onscreen romance between Captain Marvel and War Machine? All I will say is that I certainly wouldn’t bet on it.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers:Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo,  Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame is now playing in theaters!
