‘Avengers: Endgame’ Concept Art Shows Cut Frost Giant From Chris Hemsworth’s ‘Thor’ Films

A brand new piece of concept art from Avengers: Endgame reveals that the Frost Giants from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor films were considered to join the heroes in the final battle against Thanos.

The climax of Avengers: Endgame featured an epic battle that saw almost every hero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe fighting together to defeat Thanos. We got some of the sorcerers from Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange and some of the warriors from Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, but a notable exclusion were the Frost Giants from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor films. It turns out that the Frost Giants from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor films were in fact planned to be in the Avengers: Endgame finale but the idea was ultimately scrapped.

Jerad S. Merantz, one of the lead concept artists for Avengers: Endgame, has been sharing a bevy of concept art on his Instagram ever since the film hit home media formats. His latest revelation is that the Frost Giants from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor films were being considered for the finale. In the caption, Merantz states that he was toying around with the idea of allowing the Frost Giants to use their ice powers to build armor for themselves. It would have been quite the solid treat to see the Frost Giants from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor films return, especially considering not many of the God of Thunder’s mates came to help him out in Avengers: Endgame. Sure, Korg and a handful of Asgardians were there to aid Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the Avengers: Endgame finale, but most of these characters were introduced in Thor: Ragnarok. It would have been a fantastic throwback to see beings and creatures featured in the first two Thor films.
