‘Avengers: Endgame’ Directors Congratulate ‘Black Panther’ For Oscar Wins

Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo congratulated Black Panther for its three Oscar wins on Sunday night.

Black Panther was already making history for the superhero genre at the Oscars, becoming the first to score a Picture nomination. The Marvel Studios film was also up for six other categories, including Best Production Design, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song. Black Panther not only earned Marvel Studios its first ever Oscar, but it also won three awards in total. Black Panther ended up winning Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Score. Black Panther‘s three Oscar wins are the most by a comic book movie.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War was also nominated for Best Visual Effects Sunday night, but lost to First Man. However, Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo congratulated Black Panther on its three Oscar wins. The Avengers directors posted on Instagram with the following caption:

Congratulations to our Marvel family @blackpanther for taking home 3 Oscars last night. A massive applause to Ruth E. Carter, Hannah Beachler and our dear Community pal Ludwig Göransson.”

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
