As of this morning, the Marvel Studios juggernaut film, Avengers: Endgame, has passed $948.7 million internationally for a global total of $1,342.6 million in its first 5 days since release. With this release, Marvel Studios is collectively passing the $20 billion mark at the worldwide box office today. Comparatively, Disney bought Marvel Studios for just $4.24 billion back in 2009. Disney has made the money for the acquisition back 4 times over, and that’s not even accounting for merchandising and toys.
Marvel Studios’ cinematic event of a generation has officially entered into the top 10 all-time international box office. The film still has a ways to go before it gets close to the number one spot, still currently held by James Cameron’s Avatar from 2009. Avengers: Endgame would have to earn another $1,446 million to pass Avatar‘s insane $2.7 billion gross. While it definitely is a high number, it seems like Disney and Marvel Studios’ climactic finale to the Infinity Saga in Avengers: Endgame has a shot at becoming number one.
