UPDATED: ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Runtime May Be As Long As ‘Batman v Superman’ Ultimate Edition

UPDATE: Trailer Track’s Anton Volkov has provided an update suggesting the previous rumor that the final runtime for Avengers: Endgame was nearly identical to the runtime of Batman v Superman was not accurate. The original story is as follows.

The final runtime for Avengers: Endgame may have finally been revealed and it’s possible the film clocks in at nearly the same length as the longest modern superhero movie to date, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

According to Anton Volkov of Trailer Track, the highly-anticipated follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War may be boasting a lengthy runtime of 182 minutes, which is nearly identical to the runtime of the Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which runs 182.5 minutes. Disney appears to be advising theaters of the film’s length in order to plan for its release.

While Disney has not officially confirmed the runtime for Avengers: Endgame just yet, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have locked picture on the project which they previously teased had a good chance at clocking in around three hours. The Russo Brothers also revealed composer Alan Silvestri finished his work on the upcoming Marvel epic just yesterday so it seems the film post-production process is beginning to wind down.

Plot details still remain under wraps, though the Avengers are expected to team up with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and possibly utilize the Quantum Realm or even time travel in their efforts to undo the decimation from Thanos’ snap and bring back half of the universe’s population which was turned to dust by the Mad Titan at the end of Infinity War.

Avengers: Endgame will serve as both a follow up to Avengers: Infinity War as well as the conclusion to the 22 films that came before it before Marvel kicks off Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man: Far From Home in July.

Here is the plot synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:

A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame is expected to star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt.

Avengers: Endgame is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 26, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we learn it.
