Benedict Wong has been a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe since his debut as Wong in 2016’s Doctor Strange. The character became a fan-favorite thanks to some great moments in 2016’s Doctor Strange and last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, and fans can expect to see his return in Avengers: Endgame. In his debut film, Doctor Stephen Strange became Sorcerer Supreme as well as guardian of The Sanctum and Time Stone. Now, with Doctor Strange gone following the events of Avengers: Infinity War, Wong is the one guarding The Sanctum, as revealed by Benedict Wong in a recent Reddit AMA.
With the aftermath of Thanos’ destruction, Wong is one of the few people left capable of protecting The Sanctum and becoming the next Sorcerer Supreme. There is also another sorcerer who is equally if not more powerful, Mordo, but he has gone on his own way since last we saw him in Doctor Strange. With Stephen Strange gone, it may not be easy for Wong to join the Avengers in their last stand against Thanos, leaving him as the sole protector of The Sanctum and possibly the next Sorcerer Supreme.
