Box Office: ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Smashes Friday Record With $156.7 Million

Avengers: Endgame is well on its way to becoming one of the highest-grossing films of all time after making a whopping $156.7 million on Friday.

Don’t tell us you didn’t see this coming. Avengers: Endgame seems to be just weeks away from becoming the highest-grossing film of all time or at least a strong contender to Avatar‘s still 2009 undefeated record of $2.79 billion. Marvel’s epic conclusion to the “Infinity Saga” made $156.7 million at the North American box office on Friday, smashing the record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($119 million. The film has already grossed $634.7 million worldwide.

Avengers: Endgame concludes what Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige dubbed as ‘The Infinity Saga’ or what we’ve seen as Thanos’ secret quest for the powerful Infinity Stones. This Saga heavily featured characters like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America and Avengers: Endgame wraps the stories which started with Iron Man way back in 2008. The film isn’t expected to tease much about the immediate future of the MCU, although not every character will have a definitive ending and will probably be around for Phase 4 of the MCU or other Marvel-related projects.

What do you want to see in future MCU films? Are you hoping to see movies featuring the X-Men with the Avengers? Or  you would like to see new takes on old characters? Sound-off in the comment section down below.

Here is the official synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame is now playing everywhere.
