The Russo brothers surprised MCU fans Thursday morning by dropping a new Avengers: Endgame trailer. The Russo brothers have become fan favorites in the MCU for delivering some of the best films in the franchise. On Wednesday, it was announced the directing duo will be awarded Directors of the Year at this year’s CinemaCon. Managing Director of CinemaCon Mitch Neuhauser praised the directors in a statement:
“From the very beginning with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Anthony and Joe Russo have proven they have a story to tell and have brought the Marvel Cinematic Universe to levels others could only have dreamed of. With the impending release of Avengers: Endgame, they are sure to continue their critical and box office success as they thrill, surprise and entertain audiences around the globe.”
Black Panther director Ryan Coogler received the award last year. The Russo brothers will receive the award at the Big Screen Achievement Awards at Caesars Palace’s The Colosseum on Thursday, April 4 during the convention. After Avengers: Endgame, the directors are set to direct Cherry starring Spider-Man star Tom Holland.
