Disney Exec Warns ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Production Costs May Temper Record-Breaking Box Office Performance

Avengers: Endgame has a chance of surpassing James Cameron’s Avatar as the number one highest grossing film in movie history, but according to the Walt Disney Company it doesn’t necessarily mean record-breaking profits.

It should be no secret that a film of the magnitude of Avengers: Endgame would cost near an arm and a leg to produce. Due to the talent required in front and behind the camera to make it all come together to give us the show we’ve all been waiting for, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Executive Vice President of Disney Christine McCarthy has said:

“Given the size of the cast involved and anyone who’s seen it, knows that the cast was extremely large, and the cost to produce a film of that scale of magnitude and length, while we expect the results for this film to be terrific, they will be tempered somewhat by the cost structure.”

Although Disney hasn’t made the cost of production for Avengers: Endgame public knowledge, it’s a pretty safe bet that it’s one of it’s costliest films in history. Estimates are said to be around $350-400 million, but then you have to factor in another $150 million or so for Endgame‘s marketing.

It’s not a doubt in my mind that Avengers: Endgame will turn a profit and continue to grow in its hunt to overthrow Avatar. When it’s all said and done, we’ll look back at this time in history to see who came out victorious.

What do you think about Avengers: Endgame possibly not turning a great profit due to the film’s production costs? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!

Avengers: Endgame serves as both a follow up to Avengers: Infinity War as well as the conclusion to the 22 films that came before Marvel officially ends Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man: Far From Home in July.

Here is a plot synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers:Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.
