‘Avengers: Endgame’ Director Clarifies Comments On Nova Appearance

Fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see Nova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo has clarified an earlier statement he and brother Anthony Russo made about Richard Rider appearing in the film.

Earlier today Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo had claimed to have secretly introduced Richard Rider’s Nova in the film’s final battle against Josh Brolin’s Thanos in a WIRED video. While they did, in fact, say this, the comment was somewhat misunderstood. As it had turned out, the comment was meant to be taken as a joke.

In response to an email from Comicbook.com, Joe Russo confirmed that the comments regarding Nova were not meant to be taken seriously:

“That was actually a joke on our part.”

The Nova Corps is an intergalactic police force that appears throughout Marvel Comics. While Richard Rider has not appeared in the films the Nova Corps have, most notably in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. Sadly Richard Rider has not appeared in any of the films and it is currently unknown when or if Marvel will include him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
