‘Avengers: Endgame’ Theory States That Red Skull Will Become Mephisto

One fan has theorized that Red Skull will soon be the demon himself and become Mephisto, thus being the one truly responsible for the events of Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame, and beyond.

You’ve seen us report on some strange Reddit theories in regards to Marvel films, but this one just might take the cake and then some. So, how did one Reddit postulate this theory? Well, it starts with how Mephistopheles is one of the demons in German tradition who is responsible for collecting souls. As fans learned in Avengers: Infinity War, the Cosmic Cube transported Red Skull to Vormir- and turned him from Hugo Weaving to Ross Marquand in the process- and made him a slave to the Soul Stone.

Then there are some chess analogies thrown in there for good measure, matching up various MCU villains, more specifically Loki and the Black Order, with chess pieces. Usually, you save the chess conversation for X-Men, but alright.

In this crazy game of theoretical chess, Mephisto is apparently the black player. He is trying to overcome the will of the Infinity Stones through a link of many souls. And perhaps, at some point, Mephisto grabbed one of the Infinity Stones. But like Red Skull and the Cosmic Cube, it rejected him. So since then, he’s been making his moves, collecting souls, and waiting for the right moment when he had enough “linked-wills” to make his move. Check out the full theory in the post below.

Do you believe there’s any possibility that Red Skull would become Mephisto? In this instance, would it still be Ross Marquand? Or would we have yet another actor change in the process? Let us know your thoughts on this extensive Avengers: Endgame theory in the comments below.

Avengers: Endgame is set to hit theaters on April 26, 2019.
