Ever since the scene in Iron Man 2 between Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) fans with an eagle eye that spotted the superhero hot spot in the Atlantic ocean just off the coast of Africa hoped that Namor would join the Marvel Cinematic Universe one day.
Fast forward to Avengers: Endgame where fans thought they heard a soundbite that hinted again at the existence of Namor in the MCU. During Okoye’s (Danai Gurira) check in with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) she mentions that there have been undersea earthquakes, a problem that they simply don’t address since it’s exactly that, underwater. Many fans thought this was an obvious set up for Namor to join the MCU.
Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely sat with The Hollywood Reporter to answer some fan questions about Avengers: Endgame where Markus had this to say when it came down to the topic of Namor:
“I wish we were that smart.”
