‘Avengers: Endgame’ Writers Reveal Whether Or Not The Snap Could Create Mutants In The MCU

The writers of Avengers: Endgame recently answered whether or not the film paves the way for the appearance of mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here’s what they had to say about it.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are perhaps the main architects behind what transpired in the MCU for the last few years. They worked with Kevin Feige and The Russo Brothers closely to conclude this eleven-year roller-coaster called the Infinity Saga with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

But what about the outcome and what’s to come for the MCU’s future? Well, both Markus and McFeely spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and answered a few of the most titillating and burning questions for Marvel fans. One of them had to do with the introduction of mutants, or the X-Men, in the MCU after Disney’s acquisition of FOX.

They were specifically asked if any of the snaps in Avengers: Endgame released radiation that could create mutants. Bear in mind that the most recent Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer revealed that the snaps tore a hole in the MCU’s Multiverse, which potentially could also pave the way for the introduction of any Marvel character such as Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio. Markus said that they didn’t know for sure, mainly because they’re no longer writing any films for Marvel and they weren’t aware of the Multiversal tear before it was revealed earlier this week, but that anything can happen:

“Anything is possible, but I don’t whether you’d need that. Genetic mutation is genetic mutation. It just happens. Maybe they are already out there.”

McFeely added that fans shouldn’t be worried about that right now, because when Kevin Feige decides to introduce these characters into the MCU it’s likely going to be really awesome:

“I do think that whenever Kevin [Feige] decides to do X-Men or Fantastic Four, it won’t be how you think it’s going to happen, I think he’s going to have a real clever version of it.”

What’s your theory? When will we see the X-Men and the other mutants join the MCU? Sound off in the comment section down below!

Here is the official synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”
