At the end of the day, it probably doesn’t, but let’s entertain this, shall we? So in the new trailer, we see a trailer truck smash through two cars that, upon close inspection, bear the logo for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The theory is that since S.H.I.E.L.D. itself hasn’t been public in awhile, perhaps they will be publicly brought back to the forefront at some point in Avengers: Endgame. Given how far removed the MCU films are from ground level stuff and have gone more cosmic as of recent, that’s a bit of a leap.
But okay, let’s maintain the notion that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is spoiling Avengers: Endgame. What else is there? Well, we see Agent Coulson himself at the end, despite his death last season. But keep in mind that Clark Gregg will be reprising his role on the movie side of things in Captain Marvel in March. Albeit in the past, but Coulson will be in the films again in some form or fashion. So this next theory deals with the Skrulls. Perhaps Coulson is not dead at all.
Now granted, in the wider MCU yes, Coulson is alive and well. But the films haven’t exactly, if ever, acknowledged any of the TV shows, whether on ABC, Netflix, Hulu, or Freeform. However, the idea postulated here is that Coulson’s resurrection could have something to do with the events of Captain Marvel. Given how that movie itself will no doubt tie into Avengers: Endgame, many wonder whether Coulson will factor into this as well. Plus, let us never forget the popular theory that the Coulson we see in the trailer could be a Skrull.
What do you think, though? Is this just fan speculation? We’ve seen Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as far back as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, tie into the events of the films. Could this be another example of that? Do you think something here truly is a spoiler for Avengers: Endgame? Would you want to see S.H.I.E.L.D. have a role in the movie side of the MCU again moving forward? Let us know your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
