Brie Larson’s first cinematic solo outing as Captain Marvel is now playing in theaters. The film takes place in 1995, showing how Carol Danvers becomes the superheroine known as Captain Marvel, and fans have been wondering why it took so long for the character to show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe considering how long she’s had her powers. That has now been revealed.
The Avengers: Endgame footage that was shown yesterday hasn’t been released online, but there’s a detailed description of it thanks to Twitter user Scott Ladewig. It apparently showed the remaining members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes sitting in an Avengers compound room with Captain Marvel and Nebula in attendance, discussing what needs to be done so they can undo the damage Thanos caused.
In the footage, Captain Marvel appears to be confident that she can help turn the tide against Thanos, something that prompts War Machine to ask her where she’s been since she met a young Nick Fury in 1995. That’s when Captain Marvel reveals that she’s been protecting planets that don’t have heroes like the Avengers watching over them.
