Marvel Studios’ long-awaited conclusion to the Infinity Saga will soon hit theaters across North America, but Avengers: Endgame has already bested the 2015 record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become Fandango’s new top preseller of all-time. The online ticket retailer also announced over 8,000 screenings for Avengers: Endgame have sold out nationwide and theater chains across America are adding new showtimes and screens to keep up with the demand. Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis made the following statement on record-breaking presale numbers for the Marvel Studios epic:
“It’s pacing to be our biggest box office weekend of all time. We’ve never seen so many new screens and new showtimes added to meet the demand. I expect fans to go back for repeat viewings of ‘Endgame’ throughout the weekend to catch all the things they missed in the film’s three-hour running time.”
Of course, the Star Wars franchise has a chance to reclaim the record when The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters at the end of the year. Do you think Avengers: Endgame can retain the record or could Star Wars dethrone it come December? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.
Avengers: Endgame will be released in theaters on April 26, 2019.
