Avengers: Infinity War concluded with Thanos successfully using the Infinity Stones to eradicate half of the population in the universe, but co-writer Stephen McFeely previously revealed the infamous snap was going to be saved for the end of Endgame‘s first act in early drafts of the script. However, co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo revealed they only toyed with the idea of saving the Thanos snap for the beginning of Endgame:
“It was always in, at the end of Infinity War. We toyed with it at one point of maybe moving it to the beginning of End Game. But we … It was really just a function of where do we break.”
The Russo Brothers added that they never seriously considered using the snap for any time other than the conclusion of Infinity War:
“But I think, we never took it that seriously because we were committed to making it happened at the end of Infinity War.”
