The epic conclusion to the MCU’s twenty-two film infinity saga in Avengers: Endgame seemed to tie up all loose ends unraveled along the franchise’s eleven years of existence. Each of the core six Avengers, including Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, saw the completion of their hero’s journey. In the case of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, her death seemed to finally wipe out the red she had in her ledger.

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers returns from his travels through the past satisfied from living out the life he missed out on while doing time as a “Capsicle” as Tony Stark would put it. It’s suggested that he successfully returned the infinity stones back to their respective places in the fragile timeline but, as the Black Widow theory hints, wouldn’t that mean that Scarlett Johansson could come back with him?

Although it has not been confirmed by anyone at Marvel Studios, it is possible that we could see Scarlett Johansson return as Black Widow again in the future. Her long-awaited standalone film is scheduled to start filming soon, but story details remain scarce. Scarlett Johansson first began her Black Widow career in the second-ever MCU movie, 2010’s Iron Man 2. Scarlett Johanson then returned for 2012’s The Avengers, which saw her become a fan-favorite MCU character.
