‘Avengers: Endgame’ Writers Didn’t Try To Start Tom Hiddleston’s ‘Loki’ Series

The writers behind Avengers: Endgame revealed they weren’t trying to set up Tom Hiddleston’s Loki series when they wrote the trickster’s escape.

Stephen Markus and Christopher McFeely recently took part in ComicBook.com’s Quarantine Watch Party of Avengers: Endgame, revealing new information about the pivotal movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But when it comes to the escape of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki during the flashback to The Avengers, it wasn’t written to springboard the trickster into his own Disney Plus series.

Fans will remember that Hiddleston’s Loki escaped with the Tesseract during Avengers: Endgame thanks to Tony Stark and Ant-Man meddling with the situation in the Avengers Tower. This meant that the team had to split up for a second time, with Captain America and Iron Man both travelling even further back in time to rectify their mistake. But when asked if they were asked to find a way of bringing the God of Mischief back in some way to set up the Disney Plus series, Stephen Markus explained that they only wrote it as a “juicy way” of throwing a spanner in the works for the time heist.

What did you think of the trickster’s escape in Avengers: Endgame? Are you looking forward to seeing Tom Hiddleston return to the role in his Disney plus series? What do you want to see from the show? Sound off in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for Marvel Studios’ Loki:

In Marvel Studios’ “Loki,” the mercurial villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) resumes his role as the God of Mischief in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Kate Herron with Michael Waldron serving as head writer, the series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
