A full nine months and change to the release of the film, an alleged Avengers: Infinity War leak surfaced online, featuring Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. The scene in question took place on Titan, showcasing a levitating Doctor Strange instructing Spider-Man to save the others as the titular Infinity War was in full swing. It appears as though this Infinity War scene took place after Star-Lord’s tragic mistake that awoke Thanos, just as victory was within reach for the Avengers, and would have served as a lead-in to the scene where Spider-Man is shown saving the Guardians of the Galaxy from falling debris.
While this alleged Infinity War scene was initially dismissed as a hoax, ComicBook.com is reporting that this is not the case. The recently-released deleted scenes for Marvel’s The Infinity Saga box set showcase a more complete version of the sequence, confirming that it was a real leak. The Avengers: Infinity War deleted scene is unfortunately not available online, but you can see a screencap of the leak below:
Although Avengers: Infinity War set up a sort of camaraderie between Doctor Strange and Spider-Man, the two are not slated to cross paths again anytime soon. Less likely for another crossover: Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy. In any case, Infinity War certainly presented the webhead with some great storytelling opportunities that aren’t likely to be replicated anytime soon.
