In 2012’s The Avengers, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes teamed up on the big screen for the very first time. They had their differences between one another but eventually, they came together for the common good and defeated the enemy, momentarily. Since then, things haven’t gone so smoothly for the team of heroes. Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War were two films, in particular, that caused some major rifts to form between characters.
There’s even a line in Avengers: Infinity War revealing that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) still aren’t even on speaking terms. During the film, though in separate locations, the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came together in their own factions to take on the mighty Thanos (Josh Brolin). Due to the major rifts between the MCU heroes, the film technically only includes four members of the titular team, which are Iron Man, Vision (Paul Bettany), War Machine (Don Cheadle), and Spider-Man (Tom Holland). The topic was addressed in a recent Reddit post which fans can check out below.
Now that Thanos has completed his plan, there are even fewer members of the team. Interestingly enough, some of the surviving heroes of Infinity War are the core group of heroes featured in the first Avengers film. The team is expected to save the snapped citizens of the universe in Avengers: Endgame but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be a few more casualties along the way.
