A fan’s theory on why Thanos killed so many Asgardians in Avengers: Infinity War that might change how you view the film.
Thanos is one of the most ruthless villains in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Throughout the movie, Thanos is shown to be an unstoppable tyrant who will kill and sacrifice anybody that gets in the way of him acquiring the Infinity Stones, even those closest to him. In particular he seemed quite ruthless to the Asgardian people. Seconds into the movie half of the Asgardian survivors from Thor Ragnarok are already killed. After the snap, another half of those survivors are gone as well. A fan on Reddit crafted a theory as to why the Mad Titan was so cruel to those people. Check it out below.
The reason Thanos essentially left 25% of Asgardians alive is their age of 5000 years

It’s interesting to think that was the reason the Mad Titan did all of that. Or perhaps he was just killing anything in his way of the stones. The Asgardians have probably suffered the most in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, losing their world and more than half of their people during the events of Ragnarok and Infinity War.
