After ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ Thanos Is The Best Marvel Cinematic Villain

'Avengers: Infinity War' makes a strong case for the Mad Titan, Thanos, being the best villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After years of anticipation, Avengers: Infinity War finally brought Thanos out of the shadows to take on our favorite heroes and the epic film made a strong case for the Mad Titan being the greatest villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thanos was touted as the greatest adversary the Avengers have ever faced and most moviegoers agree that the Mad Titan lived up to expectations, with many declaring the character to be the best Marvel Cinematic Universe villain to date. Depicted as a character who almost feels burdened by what he believes to be a necessary mission to destroy half of the universe for the benefit of the survivors, directors Joe & Anthony Russo and screenwriters Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely have been commended for crafting a villain whose motivations extended beyond the standard ‘world domination’ goals. Actor Josh Brolin’s performance has also been praised, with many noting that his take on the Mad Titan portrays the character as a villain who genuinely believes his cause is a just one, even though it is an undeniably despicable mission.

Furthermore, the fact that Thanos now wields the power of all six Infinity Stones and was ultimately one of the few to actually defeat the Avengers at least makes him the most powerful antagonist in the MCU.

While the debate over who the best MCU villain is will likely continue at the very least, Avengers: Infinity War certainly proves that Thanos is more than worthy of ranking high on the list of Marvel adversaries. Who do you think is the best villain in the MCU? Share your thoughts below!

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Danai Gurira, Peter Dinklage, Benedict Wong, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, and Chris Pratt.
