‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Early Concept Art Reveals Original Design For Josh Brolin’s Thanos

Remember in Avengers: Infinity War when Peter Quill calls Josh Brolin’s Thanos Grimace? It was one of many hilariously done moments in the Marvel blockbuster, but a new image has surfaced of the mad titan showing us that he was nothing remotely close to the big purple McDonald’s guy.

Avengers: Infinity War finally saw Josh Brolin’s Thanos featured as a main character (some would even say the main character) in the film that featured Earth’s Mightiest Heroes attempting to stop the Mad Titan’s efforts from collecting all six of the Infinity Stones. Concept artist and creature designer Jerad S. Marantz shared an earlier, more menacing version of Thanos on his twitter account.

Take a look at his awesome work below.

From the image, we can point out a few differences from the finished product. His eye color is different, the scars on his face are different and he possessed more hairs on his head.

The final design we saw on screen, however, was done by @ryan_meinerding_art but Marantz influence can clearly be seen. What do you think about the early look at Thanos? Would you have liked to see this in the finished film? Let us know in the comments below!

The next Avengers film is set to debut this April. The highly-anticipated follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War will serve as the conclusion to the 22 films that came before it before Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe kicks off with Spider-Man: Far From Home this summer.

Here is the plot synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:

A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.
