Earlier this weekend, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige discussed how important diversity is for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how an upcoming film that is currently shooting will feature a transgender character. This news from Marvel was met with acclaim, with many praising the Avengers studio for taking a step forward in the right direction.
Avengers star Mark Ruffalo was also pleased by the initiative Marvel is taking to be more inclusive to all of its fans. One of Marvel’s most outspoken and passionate stars, Mark Ruffalo has continuously used his platform and stardom to preach positivity and inclusivity. Taking to Twitter, Avengers star Mark Ruffalo commented on an article that discussed Marvel’s plan by saying “Go Marvel”.
The first gay character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was introduced in Avengers: Endgame, and was played by director Joe Russo. Many found the LGBTQ inclusion to be vague at best as Russo’s sexuality was introduced with a throw-away line. Since then, Marvels fans have been clamouring for more films from the Avengers studio to be more inclusive. It’s grand to know that Kevin Fiege’s efforts are being supported by Marvel fans as a whole and Mark Ruffalo himself.
