As many fans predicted, Avengers: Endgame followed our heroes as they traveled back in time and revisited key moments from previous Marvel Studios films in hopes of collecting the Infinity Stones. However, the way the teams were divided nearly played out differently and Avengers: Endgame co-writer Stephen McFeely discussed how Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man was almost sent to Asgard, where he would have confronted a familiar hero before director Joe Russo suggested the story change course:
“Technically in Thor: The Dark World, the Tesseract is in the vault as the Aether is also there. So that sent Tony to Asgard, and he had an invisible stealth suit, and he fought Heimdall, who could of course see him. I think Joe [Russo] went in and said, ‘Why don’t we go in to Avengers? It’s the biggest movie, it’s the most fun, let’s go.'”
Would you have enjoyed seeing Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man travel to Asgard or was the decision to have him cross paths with his late father a better use of his screentime? Let us know below!
