‘Avengers: Endgame’ Directors On The Impact Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool May Have On The MCU

Directors of the upcoming Marvel Studios blockbuster Avengers: Endgame Joe and Anthony Russo discuss the impact that a character like Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool would have on the current Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now that the long-awaited acquisition of 20th Century Fox by Disney is complete, Marvel fans are left to wonder what the future of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and the other superpowered characters fates will be.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently spoke to FOX 5 DC about what introducing a character like Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson would mean for the MCU and how they would go about doing so. Deadpool is a raunchy, fourth wall breaking character and Joe Russo believes that his presence in the MCU would, in fact, change the overall tone of the films.

“He breaks the 4th wall so it changes tones.”

Anthony Russo quickly added that approaching a character like Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool would mean total isolation for the two brothers.

“We would literally lock ourselves in a room for two months and discuss this question before we could arrive at an answer.”

Joe Russo also added that there are many questions that come along with inserting a character like Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool to an already superhero heavy mix.

“Is he not allowed to break the fourth wall? Would that damage the character?”

Taking away Deadpool’s ability to break the fourth wall and talk to the audience would remove one of the most special aspects of the character. Fans would more than likely benefit from the interesting remarks from Wade Wilson during his possible interactions with other MCU characters such as the Avengers.

How do you think a character like Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool would impact the MCU going forward? Sound off in the comment section down below!
