‘Avengers’ Directors Explain Why Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Didn’t Become The Next Captain America

The Avengers: Endgame directors explain why Sebastian Stan’s Bucky didn’t become the successor to Chris Evans’ Captain America.

It wasn’t a huge surprise when Anthony Mackie’s Falcon took on the mantle of Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame. However, some MCU fans feel that it should have been Sebastian Stan’s Bucky. Avengers: Endgame‘s Russo brothers addressed a fan question regarding Sebastian Stan’s Bucky not getting the Captain America shield in a recent video with Wired:

Anthony: The thing we’ve loved exploring about Bucky is [that] he’s got a very complicated history. He has a damaged mind. You don’t want to hand a very powerful weapon to somebody who is vulnerable like that.

Joe: Falcon is an amazing character who is certainly very deserving of the shield.

Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie will reprise their roles in the Disney Plus series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The upcoming series will deal with Falcon taking on the Captain America mantle while facing Daniel Brühl’s Baron Zemo with Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier.

Do you still think Sebastian Stan should still become Captain America? Do you think he will be mind-controlled by Baron Zemo again in the upcoming Disney Plus series? Comment below!

Here’s the official synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.

Meanwhile, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is scheduled for a Fall 2020 release on Disney Plus.
