During the events of 2012’s The Avengers, it was clear that Loki was under the influence of his scepter, aka the Mind Stone, but it wasn’t until the post-credits scene that fans realized that this was all the doing of the Mad Titan himself, Thanos. He looks very different in that film than he does in Avengers: Infinity War but his plan to regain control of the Infinity Stones remained the same.
A new fan theory has appeared on Reddit from username Zentaurion and it reveals a very plausible reason for Thanos sending Loki to Earth and it’s not to test Earth’s defenses against alien invaders. According to this new theory, Thanos was using Loki to make his capture of the Tesseract, aka the Space Stone, simple and without intrusion from the Asgardians watching over Midgard, aka Earth. Check out the full breakdown of the intriguing theory in the post below.
Thanos made cameos throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe following his debut in The Avengers but it wasn’t until Avengers: Infinity War that fans were finally able to understand the scope of Thanos’ character, as well as his grand plan. Avengers: Infinity War didn’t spend too much time explaining why or how Thanos orchestrated every little plan throughout the MCU but it did reveal a lot about his motivation, which makes this theory seem reasonably plausible.
