M. Night Shymalan: Avengers Could Win in Fight Against Glass Characters

Glass director M. Night Shyamalan believes that the super-powered characters from his new film wouldn’t stand a chance against the established Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Scroll below to hear why.

Comicbook.com has the scoop on Shyamalan’s opinion, which he believes is because his universe is more grounded when it comes to showcasing superhuman abilities, as opposed to the more “out there” ones from the Avengers:

“It’s very hard to imagine because the whole point is no one flies, there is no lasers coming out of eyes. There’s none of that. It’s just an extension to what the human body can do to some extent. The only way they could exist in the Glass world is if they were at a press junket or something like that.”

There is some truth to what Shyamalan is saying; all three films in this trilogy are essentially deconstruction of superheroes and how they could theoretically appear in our world. Characters like David Dunn/The Overseer and Kevin Wendell Crumb/The Horde, while certainly possessing a multitude of powers, aren’t too overpowered to the point of flashiness. They have feasible abilities that extend the lengths of what humans are normally capable of (super strength, wall-crawling, etc.).

In my case, I’d love to see a fight between The Horde and the Hulk, or David Dunn and Thanos happen at some point. Maybe in my fan-fiction dreams.

What do you think of Shyamalan’s comments? Have you seen Glass yet? Do you agree that the Avengers would defeat the characters of Glass? Let us know in the comments!

Here’s the synopsis for Glass:

From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast.

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

Written and directed by M Night Shyamalan, Glass stars James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Spencer Treat Clark, and Charlayne Woodard.

Glass is in theaters now.
