Earlier this week, leaked concept art for what appeared to be a new Batman project prompted rumors that Warner Bros. was developing an animated Batman Beyond film. Though the prospect of seeing fan-favorite animated series return as a feature film was exciting to most fans, The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez confirmed there is no Batman Beyond project in the works with Warner Animation Group on the film and TV side as well as DC Films, with their official word on the subject being:
“Not true. We are not working on an animated Batman Beyond movie.”

Meanwhile, The Caped Crusader will return in a new standalone film from writer and director Matt Reeves. Plot details are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Caped Crusader and includes multiple villains. Matt Reeves also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic and will make full use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous films.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
