Former Batman actor Christian Bale has revealed his stance on superhero films, and surprise, he is not too fond of them. Hit the jump to check it out!
In a new interview with Collider – while promoting his latest film, The Promise – Bale revealed his stance on superhero films. The celebrated star actually avoids superhero cinema. The actor was asked if he was interested in portraying another superhero – or supervillain – to which, he had this to say:
“[On if he would ever portray another comic book role] No, I’m not interested in doing that. I’ve never seen — I’m trying to think if that’s correct, I think I’m actually correct, I can’t remember a single superhero film that I’ve ever watched. Apart from the ones I made and like, the Christopher Reeve Superman films… I love those. Other than that, no I’ve never seen anything.”
I have to hand it to Bale – that is pretty remarkable. I am surprised that the actor has not seen Affleck’s portrayal of The Dark Knight in last year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – but hey, Bale can do whatever he wants. How do you guys feel about this? Do you wish to see Bale return to the genre in some way or another? To be completely honest, I would not want the actor to return; his Batman is iconic, and will go down as – possibly – the best superhero performance ever.
You can check out Bale and Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ Oscar Isaac, in their new film, The Promise.
