Over the years, Batman has been featured in many different big screen adaptations by many different actors. The most recent live-action incarnation of the Caped Crusader has been played by actor/writer/director Ben Affleck, who was originally set to co-write, star in, and direct a movie featuring his Batman. Following the release of Ben Affleck’s 2017 film Live By Night, plans changed and now War For the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves is directing and writing the film, which has yet to be given an official title.
The fanmade poster for Matt Reeves’ Batman film pokes fun at all of the production woes and rumors that the project has gone through over the last few years. The poster, which appeared on Reddit, takes aim at the constantly-changing rumors that Ben Affleck will or won’t star in the film, as well as the lack of an ironclad release date. Although fans might have to wait a few years before revisiting Ben Affleck’s Batman in a solo film, there are further adventures featuring iconic Gotham City characters coming to theaters soon. In October, Joaquin Phoenix is set to headline Joker, which will tell an origin story for the titular Batman foe in a one-off live-action adventure that has yet to show any signs of connecting to Jared Leto’s version of the Joker from 2016’s Suicide Squad. Next year, fans will have more Gotham adventures to look forward to when Birds of Prey hits theaters. The DC Extended Universe team-up movie will showcase iconic characters such as Huntress, Batgirl, Black Mask, and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
There has also been a Nightwing film in the works for a while with The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay attached to direct but there haven’t been any major updates on that film in quite some time.
