Josh Gad has been posting quite a few Penguin GIFs on Twitter, suggesing that he’s up for the role of The Penguin in the next Batman movie. The project is still in development and is expected to come out in 2021. Casting for The Batman has yet to begin and director Matt Reeves is remaining silent on what villains we can expect to see in the movie. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves was pressed on Gad’s tweets about The Penguin and had only a few words to share about them.
“I love Josh Gad,” Reeves says, noting that his son is in class with the actor’s daughter. “We’re good friends.”
Reeves didn’t have anything else to add on the matter. But afterwards he did state that there will be more than just one villain in the movie. There’s still a few years to go until its release, but this bit of info about the movie should get fans excited for a new iteration of the Dark Knight on the big screen.
The Batman is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films. The list also includes a Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Suicide Squad 2, Nightwing, Supergirl, Plastic Man and New Gods.
