Ben Affleck’s future as The Dark Knight remains in doubt, but fans are also speculating on which villain the Caped Crusader will go up against in Matt Reeves’ Batman film. While some are hoping to see a villain that hasn’t appeared in a live-action film before and others are interested in a new take on a familiar foe, Matt Reeves indicated the World’s Greatest Detective could face multiple villains:
“There will be a Rogues Gallery. The casting process will begin shortly. We’re starting to put together our battle plan. I’m doing another pass on the script and we’ll begin some long-lead stuff to start developing conceptual things.”
Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film is said to center around a younger Caped Crusader and Matt Reeves has confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic.
The Batman is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films. These projects includeThe Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Suicide Squad 2, Nightwing, Supergirl, Plastic Man, New Gods, a Deathstroke film, and a Joker origin movie set outside of the DCEU.
