Batman Movies Will Return To HBO Max Next Month

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight will also be joining the streaming service.

The four recently departed Batman films that left HBO Max at the end of June will be returning to the service in August.

HBO Max is filled to the brim with some of DC’s most memorable content, both on the live-action and animated front. As soon as August rolls around, the classic Batman films of the ’80s and ’90s will be returning to the streaming service. Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin left the streaming service last month and while they were missed, their return is more imminent than what we thought. The return of these beloved films was announced during HBO Max‘s monthly reveal of what’s joining their ever-expanding catalog.

If some of the original Caped Crusader films don’t elicit any excitement, fans will be pleased to know that Christopher Nolan’s gritty Batman Begins and The Dark Knight will be arriving on HBO Max as well. If we’re counting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, these recent arrivals will see HBO Max sporting 7 live-action Batman films. If you’re going to be indulging in a DC marathon, you’ll be happy to know that the Christopher Reeves Superman films are also on the streaming service.

While the streaming service doesn’t boast every DC project, it’s great to know that they’re trying their best to become the central hub for the company. With almost every live-action Batman movie on there, HBO Max is a mecca for those who want to indulge in some of the Caped Crusader’s most iconic live-action moments. Plus, with these new releases, HBO Max will have every live-action Batman on the streaming service.

Plot details for The Batman are under wraps but the project will be centered on Robert Pattinson as a younger Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector. The DC project will also feature the hero making use of his detective skills more than what we’ve seen before in previous iterations of the character. The film is also expected to be the first installment to a new trilogy with Pattinson as Batman.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding DC and HBO Max, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content!
