Long before he became the trusted ally and surrogate father to Bruce Wayne/Batman, Alfred Pennyworth served as a British SAS soldier and EPIX will explore the time between those key periods of life in a new television series. Now, Epix has announced Pennyworth will premiere in July and released a new teaser that shows fans the first meeting between Alfred and Thomas Wayne that will ultimately lead to Alfred becoming Batman’s surrogate father and trusted ally.

Based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, the 10-episode, hour-long drama series will follow Alfred Pennyworth as he forms a security company and goes to work with a young billionaire named Thomas Wayne in 1960s London after his time as British SAS soldier.
Pennyworth stars Jack Bannon, Paloma Faith, Ben Aldridge, Hainsley Lloyd Bennett, Ryan Fletcher, Jason Flemyng, and Polly Walker. Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller serves as executive producer of the series alongside Danny Cannon.
Pennyworth will premiere on July 28, 2019, on Epix.
