For over a year, Josh Gad has been sharing social media posts insinuating he is interested in playing the Penguin in a Batman film. While director Matt Reeves has not revealed which villains he plans to include in The Batman, it was recently reported Robert Pattinson is the official frontrunner to play the Caped Crusader in the upcoming film. The news of Robert Pattinson’s potential casting has elicited strong reactions on both ends of the spectrum and now Josh Gad has taken to social media to share his own response, noting that he believes he could “take” Batman should he be cast as the Penguin.

Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and includes multiple villains. Matt Reeves also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic and will use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films.
The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, New Gods, and Nightwing.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
