A 'Batman v. Superman' allegory video has been released that takes a brand new look at the film, comparing it to previous works of art.
The video compares shots to previous films, including Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. However, it also notes how the composition of the frame and the position of actors in certain shots is reminiscent of classic art works such as Alfred Stevens’ “The Bath”. The comparison to religious stories and images is also noted, with the video citing moments such as the ‘Knightmare’ sequence as an allegory for the crucifixion.
Considering the number of references to gods and false idols featured in the film, it is not surprising to learn that there are several visual references to religious imagery in Batman v. Superman. However, fans may be surprised to see just how perfectly symmetrical many of these shots are to the imagery of previous films and artwork. Check out the video below!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD. A Limited Edition gift set is scheduled to be released on December 6, 2016.
