The Batman is not expected to begin filming until later this year, so Matt Reeves is still working on the film’s script. During an impromptu Q&A on Twitter, Reeves was asked by a fan about what he’s been listening to while writing the movie. The director’s answer? “Thank God For The Rain,” a track from the 1976 Martin Scorsese movie Taxi Driver starring Robert De Niro. It’s in the Taxi Driver soundtrack by Bernard Herrmann.
It’s funny that a Robert De Niro flick is helping Matt Reeves write his script considering that the actor will soon be seen in Joker, a movie about Batman’s arch-nemesis. In it, Robert De Niro plays a talk show host who’s partly responsible for the Clown Prince of Crime’s descent into madness.
Plot details for the DC Films project are currently under wraps. It’s said to revolve around a young Bruce Wayne and Matt Reeves has previously confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films. The list also includes a Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Suicide Squad 2, Nightwing, Supergirl, Plastic Man and New Gods.
The Batman is set to open in theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the project.
