Timothee Chalamet Responds To Batman Casting Rumors

Timothee Chalamet, the Oscar-nominated star of Call Me By Your Name, was quick to respond to a comment about the possibility of him becoming DC’s new Batman.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman has been a long time coming and although the film is still in the early stages of production, the hype for the DC solo film hasn’t died down yet. After Justice League‘s post-production issues, many fans speculated whether or not Ben Affleck would return to the DC Extended Universe. Affleck’s recent shift in his personal life to focus more on his health have fans questioning whether or not the actor would return. Rumors constantly fly around about who could be playing the Caped Crusader next and one of those latest rumors claimed that Timothee Chalamet could be playing a new, younger Bruce Wayne for the DC Extended Universe.

While Chalamet was attending a recent event, he spoke with Variety and the possibility of him playing the Caped Crusader came up. It would certainly be a much younger version of Batman than people are familiar but given that the 22-year old actor already has an Oscar nomination under his belt, it’s safe to say that he would bring something interesting to the role. Check out the video below to see what Chalamet had to say about the rumors.

Chalamet’s confusion seems pretty genuine so it looks like he won’t be donning the cape and cowl any time soon. Chalamet does have a few interesting connections to Batman in his filmography though, including 2014’s Interstellar. In the film, co-written and directed by The Dark Knight trilogy director Christopher Nolan, Chalamet plays the younger version of Casey Affleck’s character. Casey Affleck is, of course, the brother of Ben Affleck.

Also, in the film Call Me By Your Name, the star earned his Oscar-nominated acting alongside Armie Hammer, who was cast to play Batman in George Miller’s Justice League Mortal before the film was ultimately canceled. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding The Batman and the entire DCEU as more information becomes available. What are your thoughts on Chalamet as Batman? Who would you like to see play the iconic role? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
