‘Batman’ Writer Giving DC Comics To Government Workers Amidst Shutdown

Tom King, the writer on the current run of Batman comics, is doing his part to help workers who have lost their jobs during the ongoing government shutdown but giving away free DC comics.

This weekend during a signing appearance at Third Eye Comics in Annapolis, Maryland, Tom King will be giving away hundreds of DC comic books, including King’s Batman, provided to him by the popular publication. The books will be free, while supplies last, to government employees affected by the government shutdown.

Tom King made the announcement of the giveaway via Twitter, where the comic writer shared his own personal experiences living paycheck to paycheck while working for the federal government, more specifically the Central Intelligence Agency. Check out the tweet below:

The signing event is open to everybody. The freebies will be specifically designated to government employees with a valid government ID.

Outside of his current work on Batman, Tom King is best known for his runs on Mister Miracle, The Omega Men as well as the Vision standalone comics.

Of course, fans will recognize Vision from his more recent role in last summer’s Avengers: Infinity War and he will likely make an appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame.

What do you think about what Tom King is doing? Do you think a comic book giveaway is a nice way to lighten what is sure to be a tough week for government workers? And do you plan on attending this event? Let us know in the comments down below!

The upcoming Batman film, The Batman is still shrouded in secrecy with little concrete information to be had. Plot details for the film are currently under wraps, though the film is said to center around a younger Caped Crusader and may not feature Ben Affleck’s version of the characters. Pre-Production for the film is currently rumored to begin in November of this year!

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on all upcoming DC projects!
