Ironhead Studio's founder, Jose Fernandez, discusses at length the process of creating Ben Affleck's Batman suit for 'Batman v Superman' in video interview.
Some of the most fascinating aspects of superhero films are the costumes. Whether it’s the superhero outfits or the the outfits of their supporting cast, costume design is one of the most integral part of filmmaking.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice called upon Jose Fernandez, founder of Ironhead Studio, to create the costumes for the movie. In a recent video interview during the Monsterpalooza costumes convention, Fernandez spoke about how the Batsuit worn by Ben Affleck specifically, took eight months to make. There were several stages, which included a full body scan.
“I love the challenge. I really like something that’s new. And if I have done it, I like to see where else I can push it. You know, what’s the next thing.”

However, Fernandez says that he and his studio did not receive any onscreen credit for their work. This is disappointing given that it took a lot of hard work to make the Batsuit and it’s obvious that a lot of detail went into creating the look. It’s nice to see that by bringing the suit to a convention, that Fernandez will finally be recognized.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is now available to own on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD.
