‘Batman v Superman’ Director Clarifies Lex Luthor’s Final Lines

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder recently took to social media to reveal the secret behind Lex Luthor’s (Jesse Eisenberg) final lines in the film.

Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, the antagonist behind the events of 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, was a very polarizing character amongst fans of the film. While many fans admired the new take on the iconic DC character, others felt that Eisenberg’s performance was too goofy. Fans had to wait until the end of the film to see Luthor with his iconic bald look and during this scene, Luthor’s final lines are a series of dings to warn Batman (Ben Affleck) of the oncoming threat, Steppenwolf, who is on his way to Earth because of the Mother Boxes. These devices of course played a huge role in 2017’s Justice League.

The explanation behind Luthor’s dinging could’ve been a number of different things but director Zack Snyder has finally given the final word on what Luthor’s warning meant. After being asked by a fan on the social media app Vero, Snyder revealed why Luthor was making those sounds and it wasn’t simply because he’s crazy. Check out Snyder’s explanation below.

If you’re a huge fan of the DC Extended Universe films then you may want to look into Vero because Snyder is answering questions often. While the controversial events that happened during the post-production process of Justice League left much of Snyder’s vision on the cutting room floor, the director has been very open about certain aspects of the production such as artwork and footage that never made it to the big screen.

Luthor was mostly absent from Justice League but one of his scenes with Deathstroke (Joe Manganiello) did make it into the film as a post-credits scene. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding the DCEU as more information becomes available.
