The news comes to us courtesy of Deadline, who is reporting that Dougray Scott will portray the father to Ruby Rose’s Batwoman in the newest addition to the CW Greg Berlanti-verse for Warner Bros. Television. Additionally, Marcos Siega has joined the project as director and executive producer. He is taking over for original Batwoman director David Nutter, who had to step away from directorial duties for personal reasons. Nutter will still get execute producer credit.
Batwoman marks the first gay lead character for a live-action superhero series. The report describes Batwomen as:
“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.”
Ruby Rose’s version of Batwoman was first introduced in last year’s CW crossover television event Elseworlds alongside the likes of established stars as The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl. Audiences were largely taken with the character and now she will indeed get her own standalone television series
