‘Batwoman’ Set Accident Leaves Woman Paralyzed

A comedian working on Ruby Rose’s Batwoman set has been left paralyzed after she became trapped in an accident involving a telehandler.

An accident on the set of Ruby Rose’s Batwoman left a comedian tragically paralyzed when she was working as a production assistant on The CW show. Amanda Smith was standing with her back to a telehandler, also known as a boom lift, when the bucket of the machine came down onto her head. The comedian reportedly couldn’t hear the sound of the machine due to the sound of nearby traffic. Smith needed emergency surgery at Vancouver General Hospital after the accident left her with severe spinal injuries including a burst vertebrae. She will later be transferred to GF Strong’s Rehabilitation Clinic so she can work with their spinal cord injury program.

Speaking to the Vanouver Sun, one of Smith’s friends Tony Mazzucco explained that although she can’t feel anything from the waist down, she’s in a good mood knowing that she might regain feeling one day after intensive physical therapy. Mazzucco also set up a fundraiser for Amanda, so that she doesn’t have to worry about finances and hospital bills following the accident on the set of Ruby Rose’s Batwoman. At the time of writing, the fundraiser is at $50,640 of a $100,000 goal. Check out the fundraiser here.
