Disney's upcoming live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast recently came out with a full trailer, revealing even more moments taken straight out of the...
Specifically, EW has just reported that Monday’s promotional clip for the movie racked up 127.6 million views in just 24 hours, a world record for movie trailers that was previously held by Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Gray. That movie had 114 million views in its first day by comparison, which Disney‘s Beauty and the Beast seemed to easily trounce. What’s even more impressive is that these global view counts for Beauty and the Beast don’t include any in China.
So what accounted for this sudden surge of interest? After all, the initial marketing for Beauty and the Beast didn’t see these kinds of numbers. Well, EW claims a sizable portion of the views were a result of a Facebook Live session the cast took part in yesterday, drawing in at least 29 million views alone. This seems to be backed up by an apparent 27 million views of Emma Watson’s Facebook page, as well.
If this is really the case, then that means we can probably expect even more studios to start releasing promotional materials for live platforms like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and beyond.
