‘Beauty And The Beast’ Lands $88M; ‘Power Rangers’ Nabs $40.5M

'Beauty and the Beast' lands another $88 million at the box office, while 'Power Rangers' grabs $40.5 million in its first weekend.

There’s just no stopping Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the box office. In its second week, it remains in the number one spot, taking in another $88 million and bringing its gross domestic amount to a whopping $317 million. Globally, it has made a phenomenal $690.3 million, with overseas numbers coming to a total of $119.2 million. The film stars Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, and Luke Evans as Gaston. Directed by Bill Condon, Beauty and the Beast will continue to do will and it more than ensures that Disney will continue making live-action adaptations of its animated classics.

In second place with a good run in its first weekend is Power Rangers with $40.5 million. The film cost $100 million to make, so they’ll need to continue to make a good amount at the box office over the next few weeks to make the amount up. Internationally, the movie made $18.7 million, with the global amount coming to $59.2 million.

The film stars Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Becky G. as the Yellow Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, and Bryan Cranston as Zordon.

Life, the space horror thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal, made $12.6 million at the box office in its opening weekend, while CHIPS, the remake of the TV series, crashed and burned with only $7.6 million. Over in China, Kong: Skull Island made $72.1 million. Elsewhere, Logan surpassed $200 million at the domestic box office.
