Ben Affleck Discusses ‘The Batman’ Title

Earlier this week, Ben Affleck revealed that his standalone Batman movie will likely be called The Batman. The actor is still working on the script of the highly anticipated project alongside Geoff Johns, so it’s clearly going to be a while before he finally gets to direct it, meaning that this title is not yet set in stone.

While doing the press rounds for The Accountant, Affleck spoke with E! News and explained that the title of his Batman solo film could eventually change due to the fact that the project is currently in the early stages of development:

“I just mentioned the other day… it’s been around for a long time that the movie… there is no Batman movie happening yet, we’re still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff. And someone said what are you calling it, and I had said, like, back when we were doing, like, promoting another movie, I was like ‘we don’t have a name for it, now we’re just going with The Batman or Batman movie or Batman’, and I said that, and then it was like ‘Affleck announces the title of his new… [Batman movie]’, I was like, you can’t even touch it without it being… and they’re like ‘this title’s so boring’ and ‘this title sucks.'”

Details about Affleck’s Batman movie are scarce at the moment, but we do know that Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as Commissioner Gordon, and that he’ll be joined by Joe Manganiello, who will play Deathstroke. Jeremy Irons will also likely return as Alfred Pennyworth.
