Ben Affleck made his big screen debut as Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight had a costume in the film that harkened back to classic suit designs, mixed with a more modern take on Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. Newly released concept art reveals that Ben Affleck’s batsuit almost had a much more tech-based design.
Jerad S. Marantz recently took to Instagram to show off some of the intriguing batsuit designs he did for the film, most notably the cape and cowl that originally had a more technologically advanced idea behind it. Check out the unused Batman v Superman concept art in the post below.
Ben Affleck also played the Caped Crusader in 2016’s Suicide Squad and 2017’s Justice League. The actor was originally set to direct, co-write, and star in The Batman, a solo film centered around his iconic DC hero. Since then, Ben Affleck has stepped down from the project and the role in the franchise entirely. Currently, War For the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves is working on the Dark Knight’s next solo movie, with a new actor obviously expected to replace Ben Affleck in the role.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Matt Reeves’ solo Batman movie as soon as more information becomes available. The latest installment of the DCEU is Shazam!. Check out the synopsis for the film below:
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Shazam! is playing in theaters today!
